We Want To See Your Fish Pictures

We want your fish pictures in our Fish Photos gallery! The above photo was submitted to Tasty-Takes and we want more. If you have any photos that are half as good as the one above we want them. We like our photos but we get bored of them and want to see yours (ok, I don’t really get bored of our photos but I still really want to see yours).  It can be of a big fish, small fish, cool fish, crazy fish, or anything in between, maybe just a pretty fishing scene (you get extra props if you have beer in the picture!).  Email your photos to Chris@Tasty-Takes.com and feel free to include an explanation.

Looking for a cool new fishing hat? Check a couple of these out!

I think that this hat pretty much sums up our motto here at Tasty-Takes. And you can get it in foam and mesh, classy.

If you aren’t into that model, check out this doozy.

If neither of these catch your fancy check out zazzle.com for tons of other hats or to design your own.

River Brew Review: FireStation 5 Fire Boat Amber Ale

Location: Yakima River, Ellensburg, Washington
Beer: FireStation 5 Fire Boat Amber Ale

This past weekend I had a chance to meet up with Joanna to do some fishing on the Yakima River in Ellensburg, Washington. I had called several fly shops in central Washington they all pointed me towards the Yakima, the levels were coming down and the river was going to be shaping up nicely for what was predicted to be the first really gorgeous weekend of the spring.

Upon arriving in Ellensburg the first order of business was to locate a couple of refreshing beers to bring with us out on the river. Since we like to indulge in a bit of local flavor when traveling we tried to find something brewed in central Washington. We went with FireStation 5 Fire Boat Amber Ale. With the promise of nicer weather we wanted to get something drinkable and delicious.

Top Ten Trout Fishing Towns in North America

Want to live in one of the top ten trout fishing towns in North America?  Here is a nice list that can help you make it happen.  It includes towns such as West Yellowstone, MT.  Where a fisherman can hit the Firehole River, Gibbon River, Slough Creek, the Gallatin (where a River Runs Through it Was Filmed), the Yellowstone, the Madison, and finally to cap it all off the Henry’s Fork of the Snake.  Yeah, those are some good rivers.  The list also includes Roscoe, NY and Grayling, Mich.  For the full list click here. If you have any other Trout Towns you want to suggest we would love to hear them.

Have You Ever Heard of Taimen? Well Watch and Learn!

This video shows some sweet Taimen footage and the pictures at the end are ridiculous! Makes me want to head over to Mongolia right now. If you want to see a longer movie about Taimen I recommend the Fish Bum 1 – Mongolia River Wolf. The trailer is below, the movie is available through Netflix if you want to watch.

Yes, this picture is real!

Breakfast Beer? Sounds Good to Me!

Breakfast Beer

Breakfast Beer

A brewery in Marlborough, New Zealand called Moa has created and marketed a breakfast beer.  The beer is a cherry flavored wheat beer with 5.5% alcohol.  The beer has a marketing tag of, “a beer the ladies can enjoy too … if you’re having a champagne breakfast but don’t fancy champagne, have a beer instead,”.  It has been slammed by the National Addiction Centre calling it “a completely irresponsible stunt from a health and addiction perspective, because it is normalizing pathological behavior.”  I say, sweet now I have a good beer to take with me on morning fishing trips. For more info on the beer click here and for more on the story about this beer being criticized click here.

Our Weekly Tie: How to Tie a Woolly Bugger

Mike demonstrates how to tie a Woolly Bugger. Woolly Buggers are one of the easiest flies to tie and they work great in every body of water. When I ask the question “if you had one fly what would it be?” almost every experienced guide tells me Woolly Bugger (they might differ on the color but still I think that says something). PS: Go Bruins!

“10 Reasons Why PBR Doesn’t Suck” I am Listening

Here is a great article that gives 10 reasons why PBR doesn’t suck.  This might be hard for some of you to swallow but I agree with this article.  The Article comes from Beer, Food, Geekitude. Here are a couple of my favorite reasons why it doesn’t suck.

9.)It Goes With Any Occasion – “Hanging in the backyard with the neighbors?  Have a Pabst!  Going to a gallery opening?  Pabst!  Frat party? Go get a life!  But seriously, PBR will make you look cool anywhere you are.”

5.) City Wide Specials – “I don’t know about you other cities, but in Philadelphia we have an amazing thing called a city-wide special.  Generally this consists of a 12oz can of PBR, with a shot of whiskey.”

2.)It’s better than a kick in the nuts – “Not that I know from experience, but I assume so.”
