It Has Been 1 Month, How Are We Doing?

1st Month Site Info

Tasty-Takes has survived its first month!  We are very excited about how the site has been going so far.  We have had over 1,400 visits and over 4,000 page views. We have been visited by 40 countries and 47 states within the US (the only states we are waiting on are West Virginia, Delaware, and  Rhode Island).

Although we are really excited about our success so far, we are still looking for more ways to improve the site.  We know that there is a lot of work to do (such as the video page) and we thank you for being patient with us.  If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them.  Please email Chris@Tasty-Takes.com.  Please share our site with your friends and look us up on Facebook.

River Brew Review: Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA

Location: Mad River, Vermont
Beer: Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA

This weekend the rivers are finally starting to look normal in Vermont. While they are still running muddy for the most part, they are no longer raging, threatening to wash me straight into Lake Champlain if I make a false move. It is time to teach my dog, Marvin, how to be a fishing dog. Since fetch is by far his favorite past time, I knew this endeavor would be difficult to say the least – an excellent brew was necessary to keep any frustrations in check. The beer of choice was Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA while we fished the Mad River.

Some Bill Dance Bloopers to Help You Make it Through Friday

Doesn’t matter how many times I see these bloopers, they still make me laugh. I am glad that he had enough of a sense of humor to let these clips survive.

Deschutes Brewery is getting ready to ship out its summer seasonal, Twilight Summer Ale.  Twilight is a lighter but full-flavored beer, great for the summer. We haven’t had a chance to review this beer yet but look for it soon.  We will be getting our hands on Twilight ASAP.  If you try it out let us know what you think, email Chris@Tasty-Takes.com.

Fun Carp Video

Here is a nice Carp video I found on Vimeo, it isn’t anything amazing but it is nice to watch. We have been targeting Carp lately since all the rivers within an hour are still blown out. They are a finicky fish that can make surprisingly strong runs and can be tough to catch. Below are a couple pictures of a nice one that Mike landed yesterday.

Forget Your Beer on a Train? What Should You Do?

Beer Retrievers

If you left your beer on a train and the train took off, what would you do? Well a 44 year old gentleman who encountered such a situation decided the best idea was to break some protective glass and pull a fire alarm. When Firemen arrived on scene they quickly and surprisingly determined the man was drunk. Not only did he fail to retrieve his beer but he hurt his hand on the protective glass. For a little bit more on this extremely short story click here. And remember, if you forget your beer somewhere and you have had a few too many drinks it might not be the best idea to pull a fire alarm!

River Brew Review: Wolaver’s Wildflower Wheat

Location: Nick’s House

Beer: Wolaver’s Wildflower Wheat

Ol’ Mother Nature, you can be a fickle old Hag!!!

It’s another rainy springtime Saturday in New England. In fact, we went for breakfast this morning in Wilton, NH and upon our exit from the establishment we were met with a fresh coating of white on our cars. Yes, April 23rd and it is still snowing in southern New Hampshire.

Based on the temperature reading of 37 degrees this afternoon and bone chilling rain, I decided the best course of action would be to hang out at home, tie some flies and sample a new beer my sister had told me about from Wolaver’s Organic Ales. I thought that maybe if I consume a spring time beer, then maybe Mother Nature will grant me some good weather next week for a little early season striper fishing.

Space Beer? Heck Yes!

Have you ever wanted to drink beer in Space? Me too! And now the first ever beer to certified safe for consumption in space is being tested.  This is one quick sip for man and one giant chug for mankind.  Now I just need to find a way into space.

The beer has been produced as a joint venture with Saber Astronautics Australia and the Australian 4 Pines Brewing Company. They plan on doing the initial tests aboard a zero gravity airplane.  To read more on the story click here.
